The exhibition features nearly ninety works by the well-known and beloved Ukrainian-American graphic artist Yakiv Hnizdovsky (Pylypche, Ternopil region, 1915 – New York, USA, 1985), created in 1947-1985, mostly in woodcut and linocut techniques. The exhibition is complemented by a rare eighteenth-century old print from Yakiv Hnizdovsky’s native village, as well as posters, bookplates, and books designed by the artist in the 1960s and 1980s.

The title of the exhibition, as well as the sections into which the exposition is divided: The Traveler’s Tree, Jacques Hnizdovsky, Birds and Beasts, Ukrainian Grotesque, Collection of Exotic Plants, Epilogue, Sign and Word, will take us along the artistic and geographical paths of the Ukrainian emigrant and open up the artist’s worlds, which are so close to us, though seemingly distant.
