As part of the “Czech Dreams in Lviv” festival, the exhibition *New Mythologies* is opening, curated by Barbora Kundračiková—a researcher specializing in European modern and contemporary art, technical imagery, methodology, and aesthetics.
The exhibition brings together Czech artists Markéta Hlinovská and Petr Válek alongside Ukrainian artist Sofiia Korotkevych. Their works explore how contemporary experience gives rise to new images, narratives, and ways of interpreting the world. At the heart of the exhibition lies the need to seek out and shape a mythology that resonates with the present day. Here, drawing, graphic art, objects, sound, and installation serve as mediums to express what cannot always be articulated in words. Materiality preserves the trace of touch, holds the memory of time, and stands as a witness to lived experience.
The opening will feature a sound performance created specifically for the space by Petr Válek and Miloš Vojtěchovský—two prominent figures in the Czech metamedia art scene.
Throughout the “Czech Dreams” festival, other sound-based pop-up experiments will take place at various locations across Lviv; visitors are encouraged to follow the program and stay attuned to their surroundings.
“Czech Dreams in Lviv,” a festival of Czech-Ukrainian partnership, was established in 2024, marking the first time Ukraine served as a host country for the pan-European “Czech Dreams” project.
Admission is free.
